And Another Thing (5)

by Kathleen Corlett | Aug. 17, 2009 | 4:00 AM

After reading the first few paragraphs, Cami Thompson bit her lip. She had almost forgotten the story would so vividly publicize the trials of her love life.

But the buzz our August “Love by Committee” feature generated for Cami and her two friends’ unorthodox approach to finding love put the butterflies to rest.

“To be honest, it makes us feel a little famous,” Thompson says. And for good reason: the story was featured on the women’s blog Jezebel (jezebel.com), sending scads of traffic to our Web site and piling up comments both praising and jeering the Board of Love’s efforts (see a few of them below). The exposure even caught the attention of a television producer.

“She was interested in learning more about us, to see if maybe she could create some sort of a reality TV show around the idea,” Thompson says. “We would love to participate, and we would really encourage her to have it about Cleveland.”

Here are a few of the comments the Board of Love story generated from online readers. Sound off at clevelandmagazine.com.

>> I am in awe of your fantasticness. The dedication you have shown to finding Cami her true love is inspiring. To put it simply, you rock.

>> Try forming a Board of Self Esteem first, ladies. Unless, of course, your highest goal in life is to be a sugar mama for an unemployed indie rocker.

>> I want a BOL of my very own!!! Are there any franchising opportunities?
