Q: How does individual college counseling benefit a student?

A: “Through individual college counseling, the student has more of an opportunity to make connections with different aspects of the school before they even get there,” says Jen
Beros
, director of college counseling at University School. “It’s putting options in front of them and helping them discover a school they might have otherwise missed that could turn out to be the perfect place for them. When students visit a school and make a choice based on name, they don’t know what they bought. It’s harder to jump in when it’s just this big idea that you’re discovering the day you get there. The more you know, the more you can see yourself connected to an academic department, team or organization, the more you can engage from the start.”
