Cleveland Curiosities is kind of like your grandmother’s attic — if your grams also wrote horror novels. Started by husband-and-wife team Clement Kunkle and Hallie Wallace in 2018, the store is stacked with irreplaceable, one-of-a-kind oddities that would make any fan of the terrifying scream with joy, such as taxidermy animals and real human skulls.

“A lot of the times, things are only one-off,” says Wallace. “I always feel kind of bad because we’ll post one thing on Instagram, and within minutes it will be gone, and we’ll have people come in looking for it.” If you’re more hands-on, the shop also offers classes in bug pinning, where you can learn how to dehydrate and arrange beetles, moths or butterflies.

But even the just morbidly curious will still find plenty of other antiques and curios to pique their interest, such as palm reading kits ($20), anatomy books ($5-$75), Ouija boards ($50-$300) or scary knickknacks. “I’m always on the lookout for stuff,” says Kunkle. “I think every day, I try to at least hunt down like 10 new things.”13375 Madison Ave., Lakewood, 440-334-0455, clevelandcuriosities.com
