If there was an Olympic sport for dessert making, we’d give Ninja Sushi and Hibachi the gold for its delicately constructed crepe cake ($6.50 per slice). The 3-inch-tall treat alternates about 30 layers of thin crepes with tasty fillings such as chocolate or seasonal flavors such as strawberry and mango. While the Instagram-worthy dessert takes more than two hours to build, the effort is worth it. “We keep it on the menu because it’s very popular with customers,” says assistant manager Jacky Deng. Chef and owner Kent Chen blends familiar Japanese flavors with the classic French dessert to create a podium-worthy treat. You’ll find Deng reaching for a slice of the green tea cake, which Ninja Sushi makes year-round. “You have so many layers, which makes it extremely rich,” he says. 7873 Munson Road, Mentor-on-the-Lake, 440-701-8293, ninjainmentor.com
