We’ve had fresh cheese curds where the squeak-squeak of each bite into the little morsels is just as much fun as the salty snack. While Banter Beer and Wine’s fried cheese curds ($8) don’t come with a catchy sound, the entertainment value is just as great. Consulting chef Adam Lambert injects a little humor into the batter. “We were joking saying, ‘Why don’t we just do Colt 45 or malt liquor?’ ” he says. “So the next time someone was at the store they brought back a 40.” Dip the appetizers in a punchline-worthy tomato-garlic sauce, says Lambert. “I’m like, Whoa, this actually works.” 7320 Detroit Ave., Cleveland, 216-801-0305,
