A Latin American trend is coming north. Inspired by ciclovias, open-air events that take up an entire city street, ciCLEvia hits Ohio City’s West 25th Street Aug. 13. Calley Mersmann, part of the group organizing the day, gives us a rundown of the hubs of activity.

Senior Hub: Get down with your forever-young self here with big band music, dances such as the hand jive and pickleball. “It’s very important that people can see a place for themselves regardless of their age or physical ability,” Mersmann says.

Health Hub: Score health tips, jump in on Zumba or have your body mass index and blood pressure measured here. “We’re really aiming to create a culture of health in the neighborhood and the broader city,” Mersmann says.

Youth Hub: Face painting and life-size games such as checkers make this a sure stop for parents. “Families really appreciate the opportunity to stay in one place and watch their kids do a bunch of different things,” Mersmann says.
