Cleveland Kicks Off World Cup Excitement: What We Saw

Egypt and Brazil faced off at Huntington Bank Field on Saturday in a friendly match, one of the final tune-ups before the 2026 FIFA World Cup kicks off Thursday across the United States, Mexico and Canada.

Cleveland hosted the national teams of Egypt and Brazil for a friendly match Saturday night at Huntington Bank Field before the start of the World Cup on Thursday. Brazil defeated Egypt with a final score of 2-1.

The United States, Mexico and Canada are the host countries for the 23rd edition of the tournament, which features 48 teams. The first match for the United States is against Paraguay at 9 p.m. Friday in Los Angeles. Fox Sports holds the TV broadcast rights to all of the matches. The championship match will be July 19 at Met Life Stadium, outside of New York City.
