Cleveland’s 2026 Fish Fry Season Is Here: Our Interactive Map Offers 80+ Choices

In Northeast Ohio, the annual Lenten fish fry season is a tradition like no other.

Each Friday, dozens of local restaurants and churches open their doors with specials of cod, walleye, perch and so much more. Each one has a specific art to how it’s done, which gives a uniqueness from venue to venue.

Last year, we talked to the Slovenian National Home about its fish fry. When you visit on Fridays, you will hear Polka bands play in the corner while over 100 seats are filled with hungry diners. The Slovenian National Home offers items such as fish, pierogies and beer along with bagged takeout orders at the back entrance.

“We have a very small space that we work in, but we know what our jobs are,” Shelli Slapnik March, the Friends of Slovenian National Home president, told Cleveland Magazine. “We know which way to go, and it’s busy, it gets a little crazy, and we just keep pushing out the dinners. It’s a lot of work, but it’s fun, and it’s worth it.”
