Dan’s Dogs is getting a new leash on life. After John McCale and his business partners took over the historic Medina gourmet hot dog eatery last summer, they decided to expand by turning The Place to Be Diner & Deli in Brook Park into a second Dan’s Dogs Diner.

“Just because you’re eating at a diner doesn’t mean you can’t get good, quality food,” McCale says. The former diner still serves breakfast and hearty entrees, but the all-beef hot dogs are now the heart of the menu with 37 different varieties, including the Chicago-style Dan’s Famous Dog ($3.79), loaded with mustard, onions and a secret-recipe relish in a toasted, split-top bun.

Feeling creative? Go for the Deputy Dog ($3.79), slathered in PB&J or the sweet-meets-savory Hula Dog ($3.79), piled with juicy pineapple and baked beans. “Our menu is a little bit for everyone,” says McCale.
