Cleveland has always had its act together. With Playhouse Square, the city boasts the country’s second-largest performing arts center. “When it comes to an arts and culture community, Cleveland stands shoulder-to-shoulder with New York and Chicago,” says Cathleen O’Malley, associate producer of the BorderLight International Theatre and Fringe Festival. The festival serves as an international showcase for visionary theater July 24-27, showcasing top international touring works, local performers and edgy, experimental performances at smaller venues such as the Old Stone Church and the Hermit Club. “Our mission is to build a cross-cultural understanding [while] showcasing our world-class theatrical assets,” says O’Malley.
