If a white Christmas is on your wish list this year, Fox 8 Cleveland meteorologist Jenn Harcher might have some good news for you. “Compared to last year, I think we’re going to get more cold spells,” she says of winter 2020-21. “I do think December will be colder than last year.”

But the Chardon snowbelt native says that even the best predictions can’t account for Northeast Ohio’s finicky weather, which can add a bit of wintry variety. “We just have such a unique weather pattern here,” she says. “Northeast Ohio will either get buried in snow or have no snow at all.” So whether you’re gearing up for ice festivals, hot cocoa nights and tobogganing with the family, Harcher recommends finding beauty in the winter weather.

“I’d just say embrace it,” she says. “Once the lake effect snow ends, just deal with the beauty of the snow and take your kids out sledding.”
