Get Inspired By This Browns-Themed Football Palace

Since he might not be using his season tickets this year, Cleveland Browns fan Luke Rowan outfitted his basement in brown and orange.

Luke Rowan’s new seat for Cleveland Browns games may look different than the lower bowl season tickets he’s had for four years, but that doesn’t mean it lacks in spirit. With the team offering season ticket holders the opportunity to opt out of this season because of the pandemic, Rowan plans to watch every game from the comfort of his Dawg Pound-ready basement. “It’s a great space for me to get away and watch the game,” Rowan says. He shares three key plays to making sure your Browns fan cave comes out on top.

Get The Details Right
Rowan painted his basement walls to replicate the look of a Browns helmet. A friend who works with the team told him to make sure each bar is the same thickness. Using his own replica helmet, he went to Home Depot to make sure the colors were a perfect match (the orange is Behr’s Inferno, FYI). “I wanted it to feel authentic,” he says. “I wanted my basement to feel like the Browns had sponsored it.”

Make The Decor Meaningful

You can find plenty of inauthentic signs or posters — “Browns Fan Parking Only” — but Rowan says finding the right items, such as framed photos of meaningful games, add a personal touch. “For Christmas, [my wife] bought this Browns-Steelers picture, and I immediately said ‘Babe! We were at that game,’ ” Rowan says. “That was our first game as season ticket holders.”

Fill The Space With Memorabilia
It might not feel like a vendor booth at FirstEnergy Stadium, but add some swagger to your space with collectibles and more. Among the Browns merch in Rowan’s basement are a Baker Mayfield Funko Pop figure, an Odell Beckham Jr. bobblehead and a Jim Brown autographed photo. “As Browns fans, we always identify with certain people and the players we look up to,” he says.
