Since The Cleveland Clinic has 83 years' worth of stories about patients braving illnesses, it only seems appropriate that it share some of them. The newly launched Cleveland Clinic Press — the brainchild of former CEO Floyd Loop — will do just that and you don't have to be an M.D. to understand the accounts. "Our books are authoritative and informational for the common man," says Cleveland Clinic Press executive director Dr. John Clough. David Williams' "Battling the Beast Within," the first of five books recently published by the Clinic, chronicles the author's life with multiple sclerosis. In addition to printing books on general health topics, the press will also release books commemorating advances in medical history. Ideas for titles have rolled in ever since the hospital's new publishing arm was announced. "We are very enthusiastic and confident the press will help the reputation of the Clinic and deliver good information to the public," Clough says.
