LeBron James Is Not Coming Back

LeBron James, whom many hoped would return to the Cavaliers to put the finishing touches on his illustrious career, instead sent a shockwave through the NBA again, announcing on X that he would sign with the Philadelphia 76ers. 

“This is my last decision. I’m not going for money. I’m not going for family. What am I really playing for at this point?” James said in a post on X. “I believe I can help make the Philadelphia 76ers a championship team, and I am so excited to energize a new fan base and start this incredible journey one last time.” 

He has played for the Cavaliers twice, the Miami Heat, the Los Angeles Lakers and now the 76ers. This will be his 24th season, a league record.

ESPN is reporting that it is a contract for $8 million over two seasons.

The 76ers have a 43-year championship drought. The Cavs had gone 52 seasons before James led the team to a title in 2016.
