Missed Prince Misprint

I just wanted to offer one note regarding the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction story that you ran in the November issue of Cleveland Magazine (“Disco Hangover”). Prince was listed in the “Who We’d Like To See On The Ballot Next Year...” category. Prince was already inducted in 2004. Also, we are holding a raffle for the chance to win tickets to the 2006 Induction Ceremony [For more information and rules, visit www.rockhall.com]. Proceeds will help support our educational programs such as the American Music Masters series [The November 2005 tribute to Sam Cooke included performances from Aretha Franklin, Elvis Costello, Solomon Burke, Blind Boys of Alabama and others] and the upcoming From Songwriters to Soundmen program. We are also offering half-price admission for Cuyahoga County residents through the end of the year.

In your November 2005 issue you stated you wanted to see Prince inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame (“Disco Hangover”). For your information, Prince was inducted into the hall of fame in 2004. After 33 years in business, it would be nice if Cleveland Magazine got the information correct.

Nice to see you think Prince is worthy of placement into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Maybe if you visited the place, you’ll see he is already inducted. I’m sure Blondie and Miles Davis will get in since you didn’t pick them either.

Editor’s Note: You got us. We would blame it on Prince’s mid-career name switch, but we simply overlooked him on the list of inductees. Our apologies to the man in purple. We’re still pulling for Van Halen and KISS as far as next year’s ballots go. A few others are too. At press time, the KISS Army fan club was planning an August 2006 rally in Cleveland as part of a campaign to get Rock Hall voters to induct the band.
