A new hot pot restaurant is slated to open in Coventry Village in October. One Pot Korean BBQ and Hotpot will take the place of the previous restaurant, Taco Roosters, at 1825 Coventry Road.

The building itself will undergo a complete renovation; owner Hangchun Zheng says he’s working with a designer and a manufacturer to custom-build much of the furniture and equipment needed for the dining experience.

Individual tables will each have a small burner, which in the middle will have a barbecue grill that will cook customers’ desired dishes. Contrary to the idea of going out to eat, customers will instead have the opportunity to cook their dishes themselves at their very own table. Zheng hopes the concept will be interactive and a fun experience for friends and families.

“[Hot pot dining] is so popular in China and in places such as Chinatown in L.A. in the American demographic,” says Zheng. “People want different experiences, not going to a restaurant to eat the same boring food. So now with the newer generation, they’re wanting to try and use different cultural stuff.”

In addition to One Pot, Zheng also owns several other restaurants, including HC Way in Columbus, both Seafood Shake locations in Coventry and Strongsville, and Hell’s Fried Chicken in Uptown Cleveland. He hopes for One Pot to help bring new culinary energy to Coventry.

Zheng says that customers can expect to be able to choose from an array of meats, seafoods and veggies for their hot pot meals. They can also pay for an endless option: $29.99 for hot pot or barbecue, with an additional dollar for both options. One Pot will also serve bubble tea, plus an alcohol menu that will include sake and soju.
