Local Fixe
Hungry folks can get their fix at Cleveland Independents' Cleveland Restaurant Week March 4-16. More than 50 local restaurants, from Bistro 185 to Parallax, will serve three-course, prix fixe dinners with an average price of $33. Visit cleveland-independents.com for menus. Chefs were finalizing their plans when we talked to board president Jonathan Bennett. "The defining term here is uniqueness," he says. "Owners tailor their spaces and dishes to match their vision."
Quick Byte
You deserve a break, so let someone else make and pick up dinner tonight. Launched by Strongsville residents Michael LaMarca and Jason Liang, Bring Me That is a new local online food hub for ordering takeout from more than 150 Cuyahoga County eateries. A minimum order of $10 brings feasts from Happy's Pizza or vegan-friendly Flaming Ice Cube to the doors of hungry Clevelanders. "Our goal is to especially help businesses that don't have a presence online," says Liang.
Warm Welcome
St. Malachi Center celebrates its annual Soup for The Soul on March 21 with help from 23 local restaurants. Dante will serve up a lobster minestrone soup while Bac will bring a vegan Japanese mushroom soup. St. Malachi Center executive director Anita Branan says she is excited for ABC the Tavern's gumbo. "Soup is perfect for this time of year," she says. "And I'm a southern girl. Gumbo is warm and filling, just a big stew."
