Moving On

Former Deagan's Kitchen & Bar chef Demetrios Atheneos has found a new home at The Oak Barrel in Valley View. The new gastropub, which opened in December, has a menu full of comfort foods with French influences. "We took some classic French dishes and put a spin on them," says Atheneos. Looks for items such as duck confit mac 'n' cheese ($15) and a croque monsieur flatbread ($14).

Caffeine Buzz

Chef Zack Bruell starts his day with two cups of coffee every morning. "It's one of the most important parts of a meal," says Bruell, who worked with Caruso's Coffee in Brecksville to craft five different kinds of coffee to match the specific cuisine and culture of each of his five restaurants. His sixth coffee creation and signature blend, Hot Lips, is a flavored Italian combination with pepperoncini spice, maraschino cherry notes and Venezuelan dark chocolate. "We blended this flavor as if we were blending a cocktail," says Bruell. Twelve-ounce bags of Zack's Brews ($8.99) are available exclusively at all Heinen's locations.
