Classics offers two wine dinners this month. On Oct. 6, a selection from the Gaja Winery in Piedmonte, Italy, will be paired with a menu crafted by chef de cuisine Guillaume Brard and sommelier Manuel Nieves. Cost is $250 per person. Then, on Oct. 12, Laurent Drouhin of Joseph Drouhin will proffer Burgundian-style wines from his winery's vineyards. Cost is $175 per person. Call (216) 707-4157.

Hopefully, by the time you read this, Hospitality Restaurants' newest eatery, the 7,000-square-foot Delmonico's Steakhouse, will finally have opened its doors in Independence. The tentative June opening date was pushed back by permit delays and the need to repave the entire parking lot. But those hurdles may actually have worked in the restaurant's favor, since roadwork ended up closing Quarry Lane the week they originally planned to open.

The pit-barbecue chain Famous Dave's should have its first Cleveland location open at 26410 Great Northern Plaza in North Olmsted sometime this month. The 10,000-square-foot restaurant will seat 230 for St. Louis-style ribs, Texas beef brisket and other "down-home" classics.

Century at The Ritz-Carlton, Cleveland offers three-course clambakes at dinner every Thursday and Friday this month from 5:30 to 10 p.m. The menu features New England clam chowder (or a salad), a dozen steamed middleneck clams and a whole Maine lobster. Cost is $35 per person.

Century has also added "Bubbly Mondays," in which every bottle of champagne is discounted 50 percent with the purchase of dinner in the dining room. The special runs through Nov. 29.

Budapest Blonde in Independence will stage an Italian wine tasting Nov. 3 at 7 p.m. Cost is $25 per person.

Save Oct. 21 for "Taste of Life," a wine tasting and silent auction to benefit Hospice & Palliative Care Partners of Ohio, an agency of the Visiting Nurse Association. The event will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. at the VNA's Ford Conference Center. Tickets are $75 per person. Call (216) 694-6236.
