Stage Presence

Restaurateur Scott Kuhn must love Broadway. While Cibreo Italian Kitchen is set to open on the first floor of the Theater District's Hanna Building later this month, he recently announced he will bring another restaurant, Rothschild Farms, to the same building by mid-November. An homage to his mother's maiden name, the quick service breakfast and lunch spot will offer prepared salads, sandwiches and more. "But it's definitely focused on you coming in and having a craft breakfast or lunch made for you then going back to work," he says.

Flavor Packed

Be sure to bring the breath mints and head over to Shaker Square for the fifth annual Cleveland Garlic Festival Sept. 7 and 8. The North Union Farmers Market will showcase 30 different hardneck garlic varietals from 18 Northeast Ohio farms. Guests can also enjoy live entertainment, wine tastings, cooking demonstrations and garlic-themed food from local chefs. Be daring and try the garlic ice cream, created by Mitchell's Homemade Ice Cream. "They put these pink peppercorns in it, so it's this savory, sweet thing," says Donita Anderson, executive director of North Union Farmers Market.

Fall Harvest

The Cleveland Botanical Garden is ready to help you kick off autumn with Ripe! Fest Sept. 21 and 22. This year's celebration of the local food scene and edible gardening will feature food and beverage tastings from area vendors such as Humble Pie Backing Co., Jibaro World Eats and Tremont Tap House. But if you want to learn how to re-create some of those dishes at home, be sure to visit the demonstration area where local chefs such as Spice Kitchen & Bar's Ben Bebenroth will be on hand. "They are feeding all this produce into this and doing cool things with it," says Bebenroth.
