Stage Presence

There's more to the Theater District than Broadway shows and Shakespearean plays. Head to Sammy's at PlayhouseSquare, where its recently launched weekday happy hour from 4:30-6:30 p.m. includes a variety of $6 drinks and small plates. Guests can choose from items such as short rib sliders with horseradish mousse and sweet potato fries. "This neighborhood has so much to offer in terms of dining and entertainment," says Dena DiOrio, brand manager for Sammy's. "We hope it will help drive people to the Theater District, even on nights when there are no shows."

Fiesta Fare

Richmond Heights restaurant La Fiesta is expanding into a next-door storefront and a new market with La Taqueria, a fast-casual burrito and taco restaurant. The spot will feature build-your-own chimichangas, quesadillas and taco salads, all created with house-made ingredients such as salsas, tortillas and hand-shredded pork, chicken and steak, plus La Fiesta's specialty mole. "It's like a Mexican barbecue sauce," says owner Brian Adkins. "Sweet and tangy."

Pizza With a Cause

Learn how to toss and top pizzas as a "Pizza School" student at Dewey's Pizza in Lakewood May 5. Proceeds from the $25 tuition fee (food and drink included) go to the Ohio Buckeye Chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, which will have members at the event. "We want to help [customers] get a better understanding of what the MS Society is," says Kevin Dern, coordinator of the DewMore Initiative, Dewey's philanthropic arm.
