The Bop has stopped. The West Side jazz venue closed its doors at the end of the year, after much rumbling that owners Ron Busch and Anita Nonneman would shutter the third incarnation of their Bop Stop club. Saxophonist Bobby Selvaggio let the news slip with his October e-mail to members of the media lamenting his upcoming last performance at the venue, which for the last two years has been located at 2920 Detroit Ave. (The original Bop Stop opened at West 40th Street and St. Clair Avenue in 1991 and moved to the Warehouse District in 2000.) Neither Busch nor Nonneman wanted to talk about the future of their club when we contacted them shortly before the end of the year, but at press time the Bop Stop's Web site (www.clevelandbopstop. com) was promoting its "final performance" — a Dec. 27 show by the 13-piece Bop Stop Jazz Unit.
