Seen and Heard (20)

On the first day of spring, at about 2 p.m., a roving pack of Easter Bunnies descended on the West Side Market. Wearing matching bunny suits and shouting unrabbitlike yelps and whoops, they bounced down the aisles, each cradling a bag of carrots in a furry arm and high-fiving market vendors with their other paw. Each wore a bib, some in pastels, one a patriotic red, white and blue. They confronted some butchers about the slaughter of their farmyard friends, then screamed and ran away in mock horror. The butchers cracked up. One cheese seller counted nine rabbits in all. "They're multiplying," quipped a cold-cuts vendor.
