Some Like It Hot: Cabin Fever

Dec. 18, 2015 | 5:00 AM

It's the season of flannels, wool socks and rugged boots, but you don't need to trek into the woods and gather kindling for that cozy campfire ambiance. Nervous Dog Coffee Bar's Bonfire Mocha ($4.35) mimics the fire-roasted treat by mixing Ghiradelli dark chocolate, toasted marshmallow syrup, brown sugar cinnamon syrup, two shots of espresso and steamed milk. The s'mores-inspired drink is then topped with a swirl of whipped cream and a drizzle of chocolate sauce. The hints of marshmallow, chocolate and graham cracker flame our affection for more of the creamy hot beverage — especially on chilly nights. "A bonfire is an anytime-of-the-year kind of thing," says Nervous Dog manager Emily Dee. "When it gets cold outside, everyone wants to cozy up next to a warm fire and have a hot beverage." 1530 W.
