The Secret of Life
This summer, Health-Space Cleve-land hosts "Genome: The Secret of How Life Works," a new traveling exhibition that explores the human genome. It uses artifacts, engrossing en-viron-ments and family-friendly activities to reveal the mysteries of human genes, which contain the codes that make us who we are. Highlights include a 25-foot double helix that describes the basics of DNA, and the cell explorer, a moveable flat video screen that visitors use to navigate a large map of a cell. The exhibit is open Wednesday through Saturday 10 a.m.- 4:30 p.m. and Sunday noon - 4:30 p.m. all this month. Admission is $7 for adults, $5 for children, seniors and students ages 5-17. Garden Party: Sweet 16
Summer's most outrageous event returns Ã' Garden Party: Sweet 16, the birthday bash for Lesbian/Gay Community Service Center of Greater Cleveland. The latest installment of the center's popular annual benefit takes place Saturday, July 16, at 6:30 p.m. at Signature, 39000 Signature Drive in Solon. Auctions will feature art and travel packages, dinner will be prepared by the former executive chef of the Baricelli Inn, the duo Rick and Sharona will perform and there'll be a tribute to the "birthday girl," the Center. Admission is $75. Garden Party Benefactors can enjoy an extra hour of the party for $125, starting at 5:30 p.m., with complimentary signature martinis, bountiful hors d'oeuvres, an auction preview and a special Rick and Sharona performance. The Garden Party raffle prize will be a trip for two to Provence, France, including a stay at the gay-owned and -operated La Mas du Petit Grava Country Inn. Nature at Night
he Metroparks' North Chagrin Nature Center in Mayfield Village is hosting Nature at Night July 16 from 6 to 11 p.m. Stargaze and moongaze through powerful telescopes, join in campfire songs and stories, and enjoy nocturnal animal presentations, crafts, nighttime underwater fish viewing, nature hikes and an evening concert under the stars. Tops Kidsfest
Cleveland's ultimate summer playground, the Tops Kidsfest, which runs July 15 through 17, is an award-winning outdoor children's festival at Tower City Amphitheater with an educational landscape, contests, live performances and chances to create an original artwork.
