A Top Gun Weekend

Whether it's the roar of an F-16 Fighting Falcon or the graceful dance of the U.S. Jet Acrobatic Team, the Cleveland National Air Show offers an action-packed Labor Day weekend at Burke Lakefront Airport. Kicking off the four-day event on Sept. 3 is the new Twilight Show, featuring aerial performances highlighting the art of pyrotechnics.

Presented by Discount Drug Mart and the Cleveland Coca-Cola Bottling Co., the gate admission is $16 for adults, $14 for children ages 6 to 11, and free for children 5 and under. Visit www.clevelandairshow.com for more information.

Behind the Scenes

Forget the bars and go roof hopping at the Cleveland Theater District's fifth-annual Discovery Tour, "Take It From the Top," on Sept. 17. From the terrace level at the Wyndham to the free martini bar at the American National Group Building, the event showcases the district's charm and brings Cleveland's skyline up close and personal. A preview performance of Cirkus Inferno begins at 6:30 p.m. at the Palace Theatre, foreshadowing the next day's Centerfest Open House Arts Festival, which runs from noon to 5 p.m. "Discovery Tour" tickets are $40 and are available through the Cleveland Theater District Development Corp. at (216) 348-7911 or at www.playhousesquare.com.

Hungry? Meet us at Holy Rosary Church, where more than 40 Italian restaurants will bring you "A Taste of Little Italy" Sept. 19 from 3 to 7 p.m. Silent and live auctions will feature items donated by area restaurants, businesses and galleries. The home winemakers competition, sponsored by Collinwood Juice Co., takes place Sept. 18. Tickets for "A Taste of Little Italy" are $60 in advance and $70 at the gate, with a complimentary subscription to Cleveland Magazine with each ticket purchase. The event is sponsored by Heinen's, the Italian American Cultural Foundation and Cleveland Magazine, and will benefit the Montessori School at Holy Rosary.
