National City Cleveland Home and Garden Show
The 63rd annual National City Cleveland Home and Garden Show will feature more than 20 gardens designed and installed by Northeast Ohio’s top landscaping professionals. This year’s theme is “Holland in Bloom: A Dutch Masterpiece,” in celebration of Rembrandt’s 400th birthday. Guests can also check out four full-scale, professionally decorated model homes, take in educational seminars, watch culinary demonstrations and attend gardening classes at the I-X Center Feb. 4 through 12. General admission tickets are $11.95 for adults and $4 for children ages 6 through 12. Children 5 and younger receive free admission. The exhibit will open Jan. 20 and be on display until March 10 at 324 Gallery, located in the Galleria at Erieview. The show kicks off with an opening reception Jan. 20, starting at 5 p.m. From illustrations to performance art, employees of Cleveland Magazine, Ohio Magazine, Inside Business and other Great Lakes Publishing magazines will show off their skills and love for art. Women’s Community Foundation Speaker’s Series
Hear from a bricklayer, a Pulitzer Prize winner, a civil rights activist, an airplane pilot and an author at the 2006 Women’s Community Foundation Speaker’s Series. Lynn Donohue will kick off the series Jan. 25 with the story of how and why she decided to become a bricklayer. From Connie Schultz to Jennifer Weiner, each speaker will share her inspirational experience in her chosen career with guests at Windows on the River.
