An Amish guy stands outside Great Lakes Outdoor Supply’s 24-hour archery range, preparing for a shooting session. “Why would an archery range be open 24 hours?” we ask. “So you can shoot when you want,” he replies, looking at us like city slickers. We’ve got to get out of Cuyahoga County more often. This place has 30 lanes and 90 targets on the wall. Archery department head Lee Campbell says people regularly show up in the middle of the night, before or after working an odd-hour shift. An annual membership grants you access to the facility 24 hours a day, every day. The targets are 30 feet away, straight on. But if you go with a few buddies, you can shoot corner-to-corner when no one else is in there. The best time for that? “Oh, 2, 3 or 4 in the morning is probably the most likely time,” Campbell says.
