It’s been said that eyes are the window into a person’s soul. That saying comes true with Michael K. Tharp’s “SHE,” an acrylic painting on wood paneling that displays an abstract look at the expressiveness of facial emotions. Tharp’s work is one of the pieces on display at the Cleveland Institute of Art’s Alumni Exhibition running through Aug. 13 at the Institute’s Reinberger Gallery.

The exhibit features 48 artists from multiple backgrounds and disciplines ranging from digitally made art rugs to delicately crafted blown glass objects. “This exhibit is really about showing how multifaceted and diverse CIA alumni are,” says Reinberger Gallery director Nikki Woods. “People will come away from this exhibit feeling inspired and joyful.” 11160 Euclid Ave., Cleveland, 216-421- 7000, cia.edu
