Tinder Moments: Jacqueline Clemens

Jan. 20, 2015 | 5:00 AM

Jacqueline Clemens, 49

Fashion stylist & makeup artist

How she caught our eye: Although she identifies with Coco Chanel, this perfumer with her own fragrance line enjoys Maker's Mark, Cuban cigars and psychological thrillers.

Hidden talent: I am a world champion baton twirler. I started when I was 5 and competed until my senior year of high school.

Biggest fear: There's a quote from Graham Greene, "It is impossible to go through life without trust. That is, to be imprisoned in the worst cell of all — oneself." So basically, not being able to express myself.

My bad habit: Cracking my knuckles.

My guilty pleasure: Maker's Mark and Cuban cigars. I just like the taste of it. It's a good combination.

You'd never guess: I have a sixth sense. I'm very intuitive. I can walk into a room and pick up everyone's energies.

I can't live without: Creativity. It's what I'm passionate about and what drives me. Without it, I'd be lost.

My hero: Coco Chanel. She was an innovative woman who knew what she wanted and went after it.

On my bucket list: Open my own perfume shop.

Biggest accomplishment: Creating my fragrance line, Platinum J Fragrances. It came about when I lost somebody I considered my soul mate to pancreatic cancer. I turned to making fragrances to help with my grieving process. It's my personal journey that I put into my fragrances.

When I'm not working: I'm creating a new fragrance.

Find me here on a Saturday night: Depends on my mood, but probably at a local music venue, like the Beachland Ballroom or House of Blues.

If I had one wish: To be famous.

Once-in-a-lifetime moment: Letting go and allowing myself to be me. I'm a huge quote person. There's one from Faust that says, "Just trust yourself. Then you will know how to live." Anyone who has struggled within will understand that.

If I won the Mega Millions, I'd spend it on: Shoes. Lots of shoes.

My No. 1 dating rule: Be a gentleman.

Deal-breakers: No baggage, no projects. Leave it at the door.

The perfect date: Chemistry, conversation and laughter. Lots of laughter.

I'm a sucker for: Couture fashion.

Most romantic thing I've ever done: That's yet to come. Haven't found the right person to do that for.

What I look for in a significant other: Temperament and values.

I always, sometimes or never make the first move: Never.

Would you like to be famous? Yes. I would want to be known for my fragrance line.

Do you rehearse what you're going to say before making a phone call?: Yes, I try to. Sometimes it doesn't always work out. I need to be prepared and sound professional.

Last time I sang to myself: This morning in the car. "Beautiful War" by Kings of Leon. Last time I sang to someone else: Later on this evening I'm going to call and sing happy birthday to someone. And I don't sing.

If I could gain one quality or ability, it would be: To be able to sing.

I wish I had someone with whom I could share ... : my life with.

Celebrity dream date: Johnny Depp. Besides his looks, I find him very intriguing. He's a really deep person.

Celebrity look-alike: Gwen Stefani. When I go out, that's all I get. I was in New York with a friend in a store. We were standing there and all of a sudden a woman starts going, "Oh my God, it's Gwen Stefani!" I was looking all around going, "Where? Where is she?" and my friend turns to me and says, "I think she's talking about you." So I had to tell her, "I'm sorry but I'm not Gwen Stefani."

Dogs or cats: Cats. They're so intelligent. They just know who they are.

Beach or mountains: Beach. To be there and hear the water and smell the salt in the air, it's so peaceful.

Signature dish: Homemade pasta. I grew up in an Italian family, and I learned how to make all different kinds.

How I stay healthy: Yoga. For me, it's more internal than anything else. It clears my mind.

My favorite ... book: The Way by Michael Berg. It helped me through a lot in my life. I had a lot of inner turmoil with not knowing what I wanted, and it helped me realize who I was. ... TV show: American Horror Story. I really like the writing and how they use the actors and actresses. It's incredibly well done. The psychological, messed up stuff makes you think. ... movie: The Wife, The Cook, The Thief, and Her Lover. It just draws you in. The set design and the costuming are amazing. ... music: Alternative. My favorite band is Radiohead. They're a deep band. I love how they write. Their music is mesmerizing to me. ... restaurant: The Flying Fig. It's consistent. I've never had a bad meal there and the atmosphere is wonderful. ... app: Pinterest. They have so many different ideas and you can find so many different things. I also use it to promote my business.

What I'm reading: Vogue. They have really good articles. I love the fashion as well.

IPod embarrassment: I don't have an iPod.

I'm so over: Self-absorbed people.

Dream job: On the fashion side, it would be styling for Vogue. For the perfume, it would be establishing perfume houses in New York and Paris.

Dream vacation: Going to the islands of Croatia. It's one of those places that's been untouched by commercialism. It's timeless. It has a lot of history and cool architecture.

My take on Cleveland's single scene: I don't think there's much of one actually. I've never really been part of a singles group.

Are you on tinder? I was but not anymore.

Best thing about being single: You don't have to answer to anyone. You have your own space.

Worst thing about being single: The holidays and not having someone to share it with. It's kind of a double-edged sword.

Best date I've been on: I had great chemistry and connections with a person I'd known for years. We didn't go anywhere special, but it didn't need to be. We were just immersed in our conversation.

Worst date I've been on: It was a blind date. We had no chemistry. It was just nothing.

Do you hope to settle down in the next five years: Yes, I hope to.
