Word of the Month: Magicicada

Catch the cicadas this month before they're gone again for over a decade.

Magicicada: Northeast Ohio hasn't seen (or heard) this genus of periodical cicadas since 1999. But by the middle of May, the 1 1/2-inch-long bugs will make a loud return (to attract mates, the male insects squawk) after 17 years gestating below ground. It'll be a noisy few weeks before they all die off in June, not to be heard from again until 2033.
