Q: What role does spirituality play in a student’s academic life?
A: “It’s really the driving purpose,” says Nick Beyer, principal of Beaumont School. “Through your spirituality, you’re exploring your purpose for your existence, and in education you’re exploring your purpose for what you want to do in life. If you’re a spiritual person, it brings to light the answers of, ‘What do you want to do here to make your life significant, and serve a greater good and a greater being than the material needs of our day to human existence?’ Really, it’s through spirituality that we find our desire to pursue a craft that will serve the purpose of our lives, through our professional life and personal life. Hopefully we’re helping our students come to conclusions and find paths that are greater than just financial award.”
