Cleveland: Ballparks are not bastions of healthful eating. But is offering new snacking options for those who want a fresh bite. Forgo that beef hotdog with mustard (roughly 380 calories) in favor of a turkey wrap (approximately 250 calories; information on the Indians' version wasn't available at press time) and you can enjoy a 16-ounce Miller Lite (128 calories) guilt-free. The Tribe's new concession items, on sale at the stand near Section 162, include vegetable wraps, fresh fruit cups and more. Gourmet options such as smoked salmon sliders, chicken salad Veronique, vegetable chili and oven-baked sweet potato fries will be available in the suites and Terrace Club restaurant. The more elaborate menu items were developed by Cleveland Clinic administrative executive chef Jim Perko. Dan Smith, the Tribe's vice president of food and beverage, thinks the menu will be popular with the 48 percent of women who make up Progressive Field patrons. "We all too often have assumed that the guy is driving [concession sales]," he says. "Quite frankly, a lot of women make the buy."
