No Delorean is needed to experience the lost art of customer service and ’50s style at Southside Diner. With red vinyl booths (and just two flat-screen TVs on the wall), this Parma retro spot feels like Fonzie could walk through the door at any moment. Converted into Southside Diner in 2008 by owner Caesar Farah and his son, John-Paul, it deserves a place in your brunch rotation for a menu filled with modern takes on diner classics. Try the Athenian breakfast ($7.99), a deconstructed gyro of sorts with two eggs scrambled with feta and served with gyro meat shaved off the rotating spit behind the counter, Kalamata olives, warm pita, fresh sliced tomatoes and a house-made tzatziki. Or give the breakfast burrito ($9.99) a go. Filled with scrambled eggs, sausage links, peppered bacon and home fries, it’s smothered in sausage gravy for added richness. Check out the specials board under the Elvis Boulevard sign for dishes such as a spicy barbacoa hash ($11) or the delicately sweet banana nut muffin French toast ($6.50). While it may not technically be a time machine, Southside transports us back to our childhood with its nostalgic spins.10705 W. Pleasant Valley Road, Parma, 440-842-6888
