Being in shape is a goal we all set for ourselves, but we seldom get around to it. What better way to fuel our fitness habits than to run, walk or jog for causes that make Cleveland a better place? Check out six charity fun runs taking place in the region to round out the summer season.

OutRun Ovarian Cancer: Aug. 6
Head over to Voinovich Park bright and early for either a 5K race or a one-mile family fun run/walk that supports OutRun Ovarian Cancer, an organization dedicated to the supporting patients battling ovarian cancer. The race costs $25 to join and participants receive a custom t-shirt and get to participate in the celebration rally and survivor’s tribute. Don’t want to make the trip? Zero Prostate Cancer Run/Walk: Aug. 20
Zero 360 provides support to patients afflicted with prostate cancer, and you can show your support by creating a team and fundraising for the race. Participants that raise $50 receive a t-shirt commemorating the race at Coe Lake Park in Berea. Invite the whole family to be part of the 5K or one-mile team and bring the kids to participate in the Superhero Dash for Dad. By donation, 9 a.m., Coe Lake Park, Berea, support.zerocancer.org
Fox 8 Fox Trot: Aug. 28
Gather around Public Square to run in the Fox 8 Fox Trot, a 5K run or one-mile walk in support of the Greater Cleveland Food Bank. Standard registration costs $30 but runners who would like a commemorative pullover jacket can register at $75. Running with a Mission: Sept. 10
Race against homelessness in this 5K run or one mile walk available at Edgewater Beach (or in your own backyard through virtual registration). Register for the $35 run or the $25 walk with all proceeds going to Running with a Mission, an organization dedicated to combating homelessness for Clevelanders. Make it a family day and participate in the Kid’s Dash prior to the start of the race. 9 a.m., Edgewater Park, Cleveland, thecitymission.org

Tunnel to Towers 5K Run & Walk Medina: Sept. 11
Take a quick trip south on I-71 to Medina’s historic downtown square to join the Tunnel to Towers 5K run, a race commemorating the journey of fireman Stephen Siller who carried 60 pounds of gear on his back while running from the Brooklyn Battery Tunnel to the Twin Towers on September 11. Proceeds from the race support the Tunnel to Towers Foundation which provides resources to families of first responders. 8 a.m., 93 Public Square, Medina, t2t.org

PALS in Motion: Sept. 18
Join this family-oriented race at Beachwood High School that supports families battling with Parkinson’s Disease. Participants will receive a race t-shirt and are welcome to join either the 5K run or one-mile walk. Bronze, silver and gold medals will be given to finishers in the race, and afterward there will be a group yoga session as well as an obstacle course and relay.
