Suzy has been busy — busier than most humans we know. Over the course of the last seven months, the fun-loving pit bull rescue rode on a motorcycle, sailed on Lake Erie, went trick-or-treating and even got married.
This is all part of the bucket list her foster mom, Jennifer Lynch, has put together for her after finding out Suzy was diagnosed with an inoperable malignant mammary tumor and only had a few months to live.
After Suzy was found as a stray by Cleveland Kennel, Lynch was inspired to give Suzy a series of activities to make her last days special. This ranged from visiting A Christmas Story House, having a girls’ night with other volunteers and hosting a lemonade stand — all documented through photo ops, of course.
While she’s crossed a lot off her list, the 5 1/2-year-old pup still might have time to do the more than 20 items left on her list: going sledding, meeting the Easter Bunny and seeing the cherry blossoms bloom. While Suzy’s health has been monitored closely, it looks like she might have more time left now than her veterinarians originally thought.
“I think that being in an environment where she’s content and happy and thriving has definitely done wonders for her,” Lynch says. “Before all of that happened, I thought I was only going to have her a few months.”
Her foster mom, along with more than 600 fans who follow the pair’s Instagram account
@citydogsuzy, are holding out hope that her health improves, or that at the least she has plenty of good memories left to make.
“She’s still the sassy, quirky dog that I brought home last summer,” says Lynch. “But now, she’s definitely much more relaxed and content.”
