The Cleveland Browns announced on Wednesday morning that they have signed head coach Kevin Stefanski and executive vice president of football operations and general manager Andrew Berry to contract extensions.
The contract extensions come after the team made the playoffs last season for the second time in a four-year window under the regime. Stefanski took home his second NFL Coach of the Year honor after previously winning the award in 2020, the same year as the group’s other berth in the playoffs.
Since Berry and Stefanski were hired prior to the 2020 season, the Browns are 37-30 during the regular season, their best stretch in a four-year period since 1986-89 under coaches Marty Schottenheimer and Bud Carson. In the first season Stefanski and Berry worked together, the organization won its first playoff game – a Wild Card Round victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers – since the 1994 season. Stefanski is also just the second coach in franchise history to win 11 or more games in multiple seasons, joining team namesake and Pro Football Hall of Fame member Paul Brown.
"We are incredibly fortunate to have Kevin Stefanski and Andrew Berry leading the Cleveland Browns," Cleveland Browns Managing and Principal Partners Dee and Jimmy Haslam said in a news release. "Since the day they were hired, each has worked tirelessly to help the Cleveland Browns win. We are proud of what they and the team have achieved, but Kevin and Andrew would be the first to say that Browns fans deserve even more. Their leadership, collaborative approach and ability to overcome obstacles bode well for the future of this franchise.”
The terms of the contract extensions were not announced by the team.
