Larchmere PorchFest
Forget the stage and gather around neighborhood porches this weekend. What started as an effort to uplift the neighborhood surrounding Larchmere Boulevard is now one of the most charming festivals in the country. Described as stepping into an alternative universe, Larchmere Porchfest gathers 30 local bands to perform on 30 neighborhood porches. Look out for bands and performers such as Ray Flanagan & The Authorities, Gretchen Pleuss, Worry Stone, the Whiskey Hollow and more. Free. Dancing Wheels
Dancing Wheels hosts their annual gala at Playhouse Square this weekend. The group, made of up dancers in wheelchairs and with disabilities, believes that all people should be able to express themselves, which is why Mary Verdi-Fletcher founded the group in 1980 as the first professional wheelchair dancer in the U.S. Eat hors d’oeuvres and sip on cocktails as you watch our nation’s most celebrated and notorious disabled choreographers and a special performance from Florent Devlesaver and Justin Collins. $35-$125. Family Feud Live: Celebrity Edition
You've watched it, you know the rules, now get ready to play Family Feud. Cleveland's Steve Harvey won't be hosting, but Alonzo Bodden from Last Comic Standing steps in to take his place. If you are one of the lucky audience members selected, you'll play with a team of celebrities such as Grocery Store Joe from The Bachelor in Paradise or Olympic gymnast Cathy Rigby McCoy. Cleveland Lantern Festival (CANCELED DUE TO WEATHER)
Write down your dreams and aspirations, or write secret letter to a loved one. Turn it into a lantern and watch it float into the waters of Lake Erie at the inaugural Water Lantern Festival. The creators hope that this event allows more people to connect with the lakefront apart from just strolls along the beach or quick dips in the water. Aida
Take a journey to Karamu House and become enchanted by the story of Aida, an enslaved Nubian princess who falls into a forbidden love with an Egyptian captain, who is betrothed to the Pharaoh’s daughter. Aida is left to decide if she should listen to her heart, or follow her head and be the leader that her people need.
