Deck the Halls
Join the festivities as the Manor House becomes an illuminated winter wonderland accented by over 1 million lights. This year’s Deck the Halls features enlightened showcases such as Dazzle, the outdoor light show and live music from local bands and musicians. You can also enjoy family photos with Santa in the Courtyard accompanied by hot cocoa, warm pretzels, gingerbread cookies and more. Welshly Arms
Music genres such as alternative rock and blues intersect with creativity of Welshly Arms. We broke down why this band just seems to get us in our April issue, 20 Reasons Why Our Music Scene Rocks. Since their debut in 2013 with EP, Welcome, the band has continuously given its audience variety in musical selection complete with soul satisfying harmonies and euphonious instrumentals. A Christmas Story
It’s the Christmas season and we all know we that means. Ralphie and his Christmas ideals of the Red Ryder BB gun are back. Based on the writings of author Jean Shepard, this historic play includes the memory of Higbee’s, run-ins with the Bumpuses, the infamous leg lamp, neighborhood bullies and more legendary action for the entire family. $25-$80. Holiday-themed interactive activities feed your science curiosity with events such as the Physics of Flight Science and the Lego EV3 Football Fantasy. Bring out your inner scientist and don your lab coat at the Kitchen Chemistry Lab as you learn how chemistry works in the kitchen. Sponsored by the Baden Aniline and Soda Factory, this event also features events such as the Thanksgiving Float where you can experiment with buoyancy, building your own float testing your design at the Science Center’s wind column. $14-$17. Cleveland WinterFest
Sometimes we get stuck on the dreariness and chill of winter. But WinterFest will help you see the beauty. You can start with free ice skating in Public Square at the Cleveland Foundation Skating Rink and grab a free pair of skates. Enjoy more of the fest with free horse-drawn carriage rides, presented by Meijer. And you just can’t miss the annual Tree Lighting Ceremony on the Main Stage in Public Square along with the fireworks show, appearances from Mayor Frank Jackson, Santa and the Monsters Girls kick-line.
