Barbie Truck Totally Throwback Tour
Barbie is turning 60 this year and she’s hitting the road to celebrate. Join in on the anniversary of the beloved doll as the Barbie Pop-Up Truck stops by Crocker Park this weekend. The hot pink Barbie-themed van will park outside offering different accessories, prizes and apparel for all ages from bedazzled jean jackets, nail polish to fanny packs. Cleveland Book Week
The Anisfield Book Awards in Cleveland has always been an event to celebrate not only books, but also culture, art and discussion. This weekend, their weeklong event, Book Week closes out with the official award ceremony streaming on Thursday night, along with a City Club of Cleveland Forum with Eric Fonner, as well as a virtual keynote speech by playwright Pearl Gleage for the Great Lakes African American Writers Conference. In addition, through Oct. 4 be sure to catch special streams of films hosted by the Cleveland International Film Festival, including their Shorts Program on Oct. 4 which will feature short films centered around racial inequality. Cleveland Museum of Art’s MIX: Amplify
This month’s digital MIX event celebrates how art and music have reflected social justice movements towards race equality through the years. In partnership with the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame’s exhibition, It’s Been Said All Along: Voices of Rage, Hope & Empowerment, the Cleveland Museum of Art has organized a Zoom party inspired by the exhibit through music, visuals and guest appearances. The virtual party will feature a live DJ set from Vikter Duplaix, who will showcase a wide range of different music styles from street dance to hip-hop, along with immersive video art by Wil Frierson and much more. Kids Fall Cooking Camp at StoneWater
If you’ve got a young chef in the family or want to teach your kids a new skill, sign up for Stone Water Golf Club’s fall cooking camp. The five-week classes will be run by children’s cooking instructor Betty Buns along with Stone Water staff and will feature a variety of recipes each week for kids to try out. In addition, these beginner cooks will get a chance to bring home their own recipe book and customize their own apron. No Exit’s Virtual Season Kickoff
This Friday, the avant-garde music ensemble, No Exit kicks off its season with a series of virtual performances throughout two days. The Cleveland-based group is known for its complex interpretations of famous classic and contemporary works by a range of composers, as well as its use of genre-bending style of music that mixes different sounds for a unique experience on stage.
