A Summer Home With Camp Vibes

With a pond, pool, gardens and more, this is the ultimate wooded escape.

Tucked away on a 22-acre wooded lot in Hunting Valley, it feels like a private summer camp. The two-story, open timber pavilion and wooden dock, designed by Peninsula Architects, make a perfect space to roast marshmallows, rest on the screened balcony to birdwatch or soak in the stars. “It really connects to the landscape,” says Peninsula principal Joseph Matava. An intricate series of walled gardens, a barn, infinity pool and bathhouse provide other ways for homeowner Allen Denzine, president of Cortest Inc., and his family to commune with their surroundings. “They’re always outside gardening and planting,” Matava says. Even in the winter, they enjoy ice skating across the frozen 1.5-acre pond to warm up by an open fire. “It’s a serene piece of property,” he says. “They use it year-round.”
