Q: What are the benefits of an International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme in an all-girls setting?

A: “[International Baccalaureate’s] basic goal is to create a more peaceful world through education. When you’re taking the time to look through a different lens other than your own, it builds empathy and compassion,” says Nick Beyer, principal of Beaumont School. “In addition, women are underrepresented in the STEM fields. One course that we offer is called IB Design Technology, and it’s an introductory engineering course. It is exposing them to opportunities. It’s demystifying some stereotypes of engineering, which is known to be very challenging mathematically, and it shows them how engaging it is.”
