Blair Ritchey is no stranger to Lakewood’s style scene. She’s been living and working in the city for more than a decade, establishing her namesake leather goods brand first online, then eventually opening a storefront along Detroit Avenue in 2022. After four years in her cozy shop at 17921 Detroit Ave., she moved a short way up the road this June to 15602 Detroit Ave., situated at the corner of Lakeland Avenue. Neighboring shops like Mishi Lifestyle, Nature’s Oasis, Funktiniland and Beat Cycles already bring much flair and foot traffic to the area.

“I knew this was a spot I couldn’t pass up,” Ritchey says. “It’s the block that my family and I come to shop on the most. I feel it’s the most saturated space with small businesses, and I think it’s going to be a really big turning point for our business.”

Ritchey’s new storefront sells items that span beyond her core collection, including pens, notebooks, skincare and merchandise from Monroe & Co., Ritchey’s illustrative line of T-shirts, stickers and tote bags. Ritchey also prides herself in carrying goods made by other Cleveland-area small businesses, such as bag charms from Love, Violet xo. Customization options on select Blair Ritchey products support local makers in more creative ways, like painted monograms by Shaker Heights-based artist Brenna Rudary and embroidery by HDX, another Lakewood brand.

“It’s all of my favorite things,” Ritchey says of the expanded stock.

Though the design process for Blair Ritchey handbags and accessories happens locally, Ritchey collaborates with artisans in Chicago and New York to manufacture products with the best materials at the highest standards, ensuring everything is made durably and stays fashionable for years to come.

“My whole goal is to design things that I feel are just going to get better with age,” Ritchey says. “And I’m going to remain steadfast in my goal to keep things made in America.”
