At Her Market in Lakewood, a DJ blasts fan-favorite pop songs through the parking lot of Grant Elementary, where a maze of more than 40 vendors covers wares such as food, drinks, clothing, plants, jewelry, accessories, artwork, stationery and beauty products. Every booth is headed by a woman.

The monthly pop-up is a newer addition to Northeast Ohio’s vendor market scene, and it taps into an empowering mission. Similar to curated market lineups like the Manic Pixie Dream Market, which prioritizes businesses from the LGBTQ and BIPOC communities, Her Market is a space solely for female-owned brands. But its inventory is universal, drawing crowds of all genders, ages and interests.

We visited the September market to scope out some of the best products from local makers worth knowing about. To stay in the loop about future events, follow Her Market on Instagram.

Florida Water by Mo’s Little Apothecary

The unisex cologne is adapted from the 1800s, when the mix was used to “please the dead.” It’s a popular form of aromatherapy to help reduce anxiety and promote relaxation, commonly utilized as a body mist or a room spray. While the word “Florida” can literally translate to “full of flowers,” the scent is rather fresh and neutral. Mo’s Little Apothecary is devoted to wellness products that tap into metaphysical properties, making every day feel a little more magical. $10, mos-little-apothecary.square.site
