Cilantro Taqueria to Open in Former Hot Dog Diner Spot in Parma

Just last week we learned that Hot Dog Diner (5494 Pearl Rd.) in Parma was relocating from its current home to a smaller space down the road. That standalone building, a former Taco Bell, had been the Diner’s home for many years,

This week we learned who will be moving in. Rey Galindo and his partners have purchased the building and will open Cilantro Taqueria there. This will be the eighth location for the homegrown Mexican restaurant chain.

Galindo opened the first Cilantro in Coventry Village in 2019. Since then, the group has expanded at a rate that exceeds one new restaurant per year. The formula of offering quality Mexican food in an efficient and customizable fashion continues to resonate with diners.

The menu has changed very little since 2019, with a roster of street tacos, bowls, burritos and fajitas. A couple years ago, the restaurant added quesabirrias starring slow-braised beef brisket. Chicken al pastor was also added to the menus recently. Margarita slushies are offered in half a dozen fruit flavors.

Galindo says that it is too soon to estimate an opening day for the Parma spot. When it does open, it will join other Cilantro Taquerias in Cleveland Hts., Shaker Hts., Lakewood, North Olmsted, Chesterland and Avon.
