Eat Up At The Cleveland Botanical Gardens

Local Chefs whip up a feast every week.

by Madeline Sweeney | Jun. 1, 2016 | 4:00 AM

Skip all those Tasty videos on Facebook and see your favorite local chefs whip up dishes in person during the Cleveland Botanical Garden’s Gourmets in the Garden series Wednesday evenings June 1-Aug. 31. Top area chefs such as Trentina’s David Kocab and Spice Kitchen & Bar’s Ben Bebenroth craft recipes — sometimes using ingredients picked directly from the garden — during live demonstrations in an outdoor kitchen. The space is decked out with an outward-facing mirror to show the chefs in action. “We try to make something new and simple for people to follow along,” says Jack Flaps’ Randy Carter, who will be at the garden June 8. Last year, he prepared a bacon and avocado toast using Jack Flaps’ house-smoked pork belly bacon. A horticulturalist will also educate foodies on ingredients such as strawberries and figs to help sharpen your kitchen skills. 11030 East Blvd., Cleveland, 216-721-1600, ext. 100, cbgarden.org
