Geek is now chic at the inaugural Flaming River Con, an all-day convention dedicated to LGBTQ voices in geek culture. In partnership with the Cleveland Public Library, the festival celebrates queer art, comic books, cosplay and more Sept. 22 at Rocky River’s West Shore Unitarian Universalist Church. Here are three ways to get in on the action.

Hot Ice
A cold front comes to Cleveland when Sina Grace, a Los Angeles graphic artist and writer of Marvel’s Iceman solo series hosts a meet-and-greet at Carol and John’s Comic Book Shop Sept. 21 from 6 to 8 p.m. followed by a launch party at the Side Quest in Lakewood.

Talk Nerdy To Me
Get nerdy during 16 panel discussions and workshops throughout the day with topics such as social activism in comics, Dungeons & Dragons and identity, and queer representation in horror.

Game Over
If you’ve never learned the rules of D&D, now’s your chance. Pop into the open gaming room anytime to take a break and browse a selection of games. If you’re not tapped out by the end of the day, join some cosplay contest fun to close out the festivities.
