Why She’s Interesting: Jenna Fournier thrives as both the frontwoman of shoegaze rock band, Niights, and the soloist behind Kid Tigrrr, whose album was the first vinyl unrelated to The Smashing Pumpkins’ Billy Corgan that released under his record label, Martha’s Music. Fournier has since toured with Corgan while still dabbling in other artistic endeavors.
Eureka Moments: Sparks for Kid Tigrrr’s dreamy, ethereal sound fly far beyond the music realm. “I’m inspired by surrealists like (painter) Salvador Dali and (director) David Lynch. My friend, who’s a published author, Benjamin Liar, has also been a big influence on my writing. And nature is definitely inspiring, getting away to the parks and decompressing.”
A Shot in the Dark: Before the pandemic, Martha’s Music made a call for female vocalists, and to Fournier’s surprise, Corgan saw her audition tape and helped release the vinyl for Kid Tigrrr’s debut album, Stoned + Animald, in 2024. Fournier then joined Billy Corgan & The Machines of God this summer as a bassist on The Return to Zero tour. “It’s been really validating to have one of your musical heroes say that he likes your original work and wants to collaborate with you.”
“Jenna” of All Trades: Outside of music, Fournier has worked on sets for several indie horror films, and she pursues a lifelong passion of drawing and painting. “Sometimes, I think if you are trying to say something, the written word is the best way to say it. Other times, a visual is the best way to say it, and other times, the song is the best way to say it.”
Electro Beat: Before Cleveland, Fournier grew up in Las Vegas, where she was deep in the rave scene. “I have a secret appreciation for techno and electronic music, when they’re done well.”
