Lennon: His Life and Work

Jan. 1, 1900 | 5:00 AM

John Lennon's influence extends well beyond his years. Although Lennon was only 40 years old when he was murdered in 1980, the former Beatle is considered one of the most influential musicians and social activists of the 20th Century.

Because of his reach, The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum has dedicated more space to Lennon than to any other artist in its exhibit, "Lennon: His Life and Work." The exhibit also is the first "major collection" of Lennon memorabilia to be on display in the United States, according to Rock Hall officials.

The collection — generously supported by Yoko Ono, the late Lennon's wife — includes Lennon's Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band uniform, as well as 25 original lyric manuscripts.
