Music Review: The Afternoon Naps - Sunbeamed

by Kelly Petryszyn | Apr. 29, 2009 | 4:00 AM

There’s happy music, and then there’s music that forces you to bob your head with a goofy smile on your face. The Afternoon Naps’ latest release,Sunbeamed, is the latter. Tom DeChristofaro’s steady vocals provide a refined sound, while Leia Hohenfeld’s singing is mesmerizing in backup (and uniquely bubbly when she steps out front). Listen carefully and you’ll notice an odd but catchy percussion sound. That’s what happens when you toss aside sticks to play drums with a tambourine. Look for a new release later this year. The band just signed with Happy Happy Birthday to Me, a pop label that has released singles from indie rock acts such as Apples in Stereo and Of Montreal.
